CCTO reminds road event organizers to secure permit

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Transportation Office has reminded the organizers of various activities to be held on the roads to secure special permit.

The office received reports of upcoming activities that have no application for special permits yet.

The CCTO said that it would be better for organizers to just follow the process for the welfare of everyone.

Meanwhile, the CCTO has also advised the public to follow traffic signs as it intensifies its campaign against illegal parking and other violations.

In a statement posted on its social media account, the CCTO said it is important to observe traffic signs at all times to help ease traffic congestion and avoid accidents.

O mamasin lang jud nga malipat ang atong enforcer?" the CCTO Facebook post said.

The city’s traffic office has issued a total of 11,073 citation tickets in the month of October, a figure higher compared to the 9,612 in the month of September.

The most common violations include disregard of traffic signs, no registration, expired registration, no license, among others.

CCTO has been conducting surprise operations due to several complaints from the public regarding illegally parked vehicles.

City Ordinance (CO) 1657 or the Clamping Ordinance prohibits illegal parking on the roads. Violators will be issued citation tickets and will be fined P1,500. — GMR (FREEMAN)
