CEBU, Philippines —  The police have already identified the two suspects in the killing of fraternity leader and former Barangay Calamba councilman Richard Buscaino.

Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla said the suspects gunman and the driver of getaway motorcycle were identified through the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage. Police investigators have also obtained testimonies from witnesses in the area where Buscaino was shot dead.

Parilla withhold the names of the suspects pending the filing of formal complaints.

According to Parilla, they are now in the process of preparing the affidavits of witnesses to support the complaint. As soon as the affidavits are done, Parilla said they will immediately file the complaint at the prosecutor’s office in compliance with the directive of PNP chief General Guillermo Eleazar.

Eleazar ordered the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) on Sunday to expedite the investigation into the murder of Buscaino.

Parilla said the two suspects identified so far may have been hired by someone with personal grudge against Buscaino. The police have already zeroed in on personal grudge as motive behind the killing. Investigators ruled out politics and fraternity-related conflict as possible motives.

Buscaino was driving his car on his way home to Talisay when two motorcycle-riding gunmen shot him Friday last week in Tres de Abril Street, Barangay Labangon. The victim came from the funeral parlor he owns in the area.

In 2018, Buscaino survived the first attempt to his life when an unidentified armed man also shot at his vehicle. He used to serve as councilman of Labangon and an active leader of Alpha Kappa Rho (AKRHO) Fraternity. — FPL (FREEMAN)
