CEBU, Philippines — A trailer truck rammed into the house of Talisay City Councilor Socrates Fernandez along Cebu South Coastal Road at around 11:20 Saturday morning.

The truck driver was identified as Bienvenido Lubay who, according to City Traffic head Jonathan Tumulak, was heading south.

Lubay claimed that he tried to evade a taxi cab which overtook his lane but due to slippery road he lost control of the truck, which then rammed into the house of Fernandez.

Fernandez was reportedly not in the house when the incident happened.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries as Fernandez has reportedly forgiven Lubay who assured that he would repair the damaged fence.

Meanwhile, members of the Minglanilla Traffic Commission (MITCOM) have clamped several vehicles for illegal parking.

Lang-lang Waskin, deputy officer of MITCOM, said they have conducted two days of road clearing operations including the national highway and interior roads.

There were 24 motor vehicles that were issued with citation tickets for illegal parking.

Waskin has warned vehicle owners against illegal parking to help decongest roads. —GMR (FREEMAN)
