Lapu-Lapu City deploys mobile COVID-19 vax clinic

CEBU, Philippines —  The city government of Lapu-Lapu has put up a mobile vaccination clinic to bring the COVID-19 inoculation drive closer to the people and speed up the rollout.

This is the first mobile vaccination clinic outside of Metro Manila.

The operation kicked off yesterday in Barangay Pajo, catering to those with comorbidities, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and bedridden.

The mobile clinic will first serve the barangays hit by the highly contagious Delta variant. The villages include Basak, Babag, Looc, Pajo, Marigondon, Pusok, Bankal, Mactan, Agus, and Maribago.

“Andam nan ga motuyok ang atong mobile vaccine clinic sa matag barangay alang sa atong mga kaigsuonang senior citizens ug PWD. Sa kadtong mga bedridden, kami na mismo ang modulo sa inyong pinuy-anan aron di na kamo maglisod pa,” Mayor Junard Chan said in a Facebook post.

He said the project was realized with the help of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and the Department of Health in Central Visayas.

“Mao nagpasalamat ko sa PRC Chairman Senator Richard Gordon nga mao gyuy naningkamot diris Lapu-Lapu nga makabaton og mobile vaccination,” he said.

For his part, Lyndel Tumulak Bullos, Pajo village chief, expressed his gratitude to the mayor and the project partners for initiating the mobile vaccination clinic.

“Pasalamat kay mi kay gi-priority ang Pajo. Dako kay namo ning garbo nga Oponganon nga kami gyuy una nga nakatagamtam og nakatilaw kaning mobile vaccination,” he said.

The 24-seater vaccination bus is equipped with premium facilities for inoculation.

According to an official from PRC-Cebu, the implementation of the mobile vaccination clinic was delayed due to strict regulation processes.
