7 armed men rob a family in an island barangay in Sta. Fe

CEBU, Philippines —  A family was robbed by seven unidentified armed men inside their residence in Sitio Kabay-ot, Hilantagaan, an island barangay in Santa Fe, Cebu around 10 p.m. last Thursday.

Investigators found out that the robbers took away at least P465,000 in cash and other items such as four different cellular phones, CCTV box, and one unit of CPU.

A family member, a certain Danny Boy Carabio, was injured after he was struck with a firearm on the head by one of the perpetrators when he was found lying in the terrace.

The perpetrators reportedly boarded two different pumpboats going to the area. They were allegedly armed with long firearms.

According to Police Senior Master Sergeant Henry Asentista of Santa Fe Police station, Carabio was surprised upon seeing the suspects forcibly barged into their house and struck him. His family was also inside the room.

He added that they did not discount the possibility that the family was being observed by the suspects prior to the robbery upon assessing the familiarity of the house.

Asentista also said that they are looking into the possibility that the suspects may not be from Santa Fe since they boarded pumpboats.

In a Facebook post, Santa Fe Mayor Ithamar Espinosa said he had already directed the police to conduct a hot pursuit operation against the perpetrators.

“Ako kining gikaguol og dako isip amahan sa lungsod, sanglit wala man gayud hiilhi ang mga tawo sa atung lungsod nga mobuhat og ingun ani nga klase sa pagpangawat ug krimen. Ang maong panghitabo naka kulit og buling sa maayong reputasyon sa atung lungsod,”said Espinosa.

Espinosa further posted that he will be giving reward money to whosoever can point the culprits.

“Giawhag sab nako ang kapulisan sa pagpalawom pa sa ilang imbistigasyun dungan sa dakong panghinaot nga madakpan na dayun kining mga tawhana,” he added. — GMR (FREEMAN)
