CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu provincial government has allowed swimming in waterfalls while the province is still under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

This is included in the Executive Order No. 13 issued by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia providing additional protocols and guidelines to govern tourism-related activities that promotes the health and wellness of an individual, accommodation establishments and the dine-in of persons in restaurants.

In the EO, there are additional tourism-related activities that can be enjoyed by the tourists in the province such as river cruising, farm tourism, theme parks, waterfalls activities and paragliding.

For waterfalls activities, swimming and sightseeing are allowed. Visitors shall be composed of a maximum of five persons travelling together with two tour guides.

The new order also provides guidelines for the accommodation establishments to install an air-purification system with HEPA filters and ionizers in all air-conditioned rooms.

“The capacity of the air purification system must be proportional to the area of the room," read the EO-13 of Garcia dated February 9, 2021.

The governor also included in the new EO the requirements for tourists coming to the province that were previously stated in EO No. 12 series of 2021.

These include valid medical certificates as a requirement in purchasing a ticket in the bus, ship and airplane. The medical certificate must be issued by a reputable doctor seven days prior to the travel date.

There should also be a proof of the pre-booking of the hotel or resort or any accommodation establishments where the guest will stay during the period of his vacation.

The guest must also pass the symptoms checking or screening at the port of departure or port of arrival. — GMR (FREEMAN)
