Fire investigator Emerson Arceo of the Cebu City Fire Office (CCFO) said three families or 12 individuals were displaced after the house went up in smoke.
The residential structure is owned by Carlos Florido.
The CCFO received the alarm at 6:38 p.m. and was raised to first alarm at 6:45 p.m. The fire was declared under control at 6:57 and was completely extinguished at 7:09 p.m.
Arceo said the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
“Investigation into the fire incident is ongoing to determine what really triggered it,” he said.
The Bureau of Fire Protection listed electrical connections and open flames as among the country’s most common causes of fires.
Electrical fires could be prevented by making sure that your appliances are installed correctly and maintained regularly. Unplugging these when not in use is encouraged, as well as keeping water away from sockets and plugs at all times. — KQD (FREEMAN)
