New Lapu-Lapu City Hospital now accepts patients
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan is grateful to the DOH as his constituents will be more than happy with these improved medical services as compared in the past wherein people are afraid to visit for medical consultation in the said hospital due to limited services.

CEBU, Philippines — Oponganons who need medical treatment can now go to their new hospital after the Department of Health recently turned over the phase 2 of the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital to the city government.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan is grateful to the DOH as his constituents will be more than happy with these improved medical services as compared in the past wherein people are afraid to visit for medical consultation in the said hospital due to limited services.

But now, the mayor said, the city hospital has many health care services to offer which is a realization of his campaign promise.

The phase 2 of the DOH-funded hospital costs P27 million but the third and fourth floors of this 105-bed capacity four-storey building still need P68 million.

Chan said that Senators Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara and Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go have already signified their commitment for its completion.

The phase 1 of the project houses the emergency room while the phase 2 houses the out-patient department (OPD), pharmacy, nurse station of admitting section, administration office, billing section, cashier and information office.

The project was implemented in the previous administration and encountered numerous problems causing years of delay which prompted Chan to personally supervise and regularly followed up the construction, until the project is completed.

One of the five Malasakit Centers in Cebu is also located in the said hospital. — GMR (FREEMAN)
