93 arrested for violating health protocols in Cebu City

CEBU, Philippines —  A total of 93 individuals including six minors were rounded up by the authorities for allegedly violating health protocols in Cebu City Friday evening.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office, said there are still hard-headed individuals who continue to defy the protocols despite their strict implementation.

Of the 93 individuals, 13 were apprehended during the checkpoints conducted on Friday evening.

“Kanang mga nagsakay sa ilang sakyanan atong gipangutana og asa gikan. Katong dili mga APOR (authorized persons outside residence), gi-apprehend gyud sila sa violation sa curfew,” said Parilla.

Minors were turned over to their parents while adults were brought to Tejero Gym for a seminar and asked to pay for an administrative fine of P500 or render a community service.

On the second half of January, the CCPO reported a total of 1,825 quarantine violators, most of them roamed around the city without wearing of face masks, no quarantine passes and violating the curfew hour.

Authorities reiterated to the public to take heed on the quarantine to prevent the rise of COVID-19 cases in the city.

More Violators

In Consolacion town, a total of 76 individuals were also rounded up by the authorities on Wednesday evening.

The town’s police personnel conducted One Time Big Time Oplan Hipos due to the rise of COVID cases in Consolacion.

Of the 76 individuals, 23 of them were minors who were turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO).

The 53 others were lectured by the police on the guidelines and protocols in the fight against COVID-19 through their program called PNP Care.

As of February 4, 2021, the town has 62 active cases. — GMR (FREEMAN)
