CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) arrested on Thursday 81quarantine violators including 47 from Barangay Guadalupe where strict health protocols is being implemented following the spike in new COVID-19 cases.

The police have also launched a massive “rekorida” in Barangay Guadalupe dubbed as “Oplan Badlong” during daytime to remind the people to observe health protocols. At night time, police also continue the “Oplan Bulabog” against business establishments violating curfew and health protocols.

CCPO director Col. Josefino Ligan said they have also deployed two armored personnel carrier (APC) in Barangay Guadalupe to send a strong message to the public that the police are serious in implementing the quarantine protocols.

"Para ra ni sa mga tao nato kay medyo nigahi napud ang ulo ug ni kumpyansa kay di na gyud mutuo....gituyoan nato nga naa ning armored personnel carrier para mutuo mo nya dili mo magpagahi,"said Ligan.

Ligan said the additional violators arrested last Thursday include four minors. Most of them were arrested for not wearing mask.

He said people are becoming complacent in observing health protocols since December.

"I don't (know) why nganong naingon ana na ilang mind-setting ron, naa pa man untay COVID, ikaduha wala pa man untay vaccine, so dili gyud ta dapat angay mokompyansa," Ligan appealed to the public.

Aside from Barangay Guadalupe, Ligan also noted more violators in the Pasil area.

Meanwhile, CCPO has redeployed 75 police personnel to assist in the contact tracing.

Since the first implementation of the quarantine protocols in the city, the CCPO was complimented with 600 personnel from the Crisis Response Battalion up to the present. The Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 is also adding 21 cops in the city for permanent positions. — FPL (FREEMAN)
