CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) rounded up 44 curfew violators during its synchronized two-hour “Oplan Bulabog” operations.

The violators that were rounded up by the police were found outside of their residences despite the implementation of the 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. city-wide curfew.

They were already turned over to city’s the Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement (PROBE) for proper sanctions.

Police Major Eraño Regidor, CCPO information officer, said the 12 synchronized “Oplan Bulabog” operations, which started at 11 p.m. of Wednesday and ended at 1 a.m. the following day, were hatched to help lower the COVID-19 cases in the city, and in preparation for the Sinulog celebration on Sunday.

“Gihimo nato para malikayan ang pagdaghan sa mga tawo labi na sa mga imnanan. Naa tay nabisita nga napulo ka establisyemento sa imnanan,” he said.

“Oplan Bulabog” is CCPO’s proactive measure to check the compliance of establishments and other areas with COVID-19 protocols.

Meanwhile, 11 business establishments in Cebu City are in danger of having their business permits revoked by the city government over quarantine violations.

The establishments, including restaurants and bars, reportedly violated quarantine guidelines and health protocols based on the complaints received by the city’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

The EOC has already coordinated with the Cebu City Police Office and the city’s Business Permit and Licensing Office to verify the reports.

“It’s not a question of lives versus livelihood. They have to co-exist so whatever is our law on that regard,” said City Councilor and EOC deputy director Joel Garganera.

He reminded the establishments to strictly abide by the allowed occupancy protocol.

“Kung unsay limit or number of occupancy nato, please stick to it.This is not for us, but for their own good,” he said.

Bar owners and restaurants have to police their own properties and activities, added Garganera. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol with Dicemay Padilla, KQD (FREEMAN)
