Bridge leading to coffee plantation inaugurated in Tuburan

CEBU, Philippines — The newly-inaugurated Alegria Bridge in Tuburan, Cebu is seen to boost coffee production of the municipality, the first coffee provider in the whole Province of Cebu.

Inaugurated last December 28, 2020, the bridge connects Barangay Alegria to Marmol leading to the 2,870 hectares Kabangkalan coffee plantation in Tuburan.

It is under the Department of Trade and Industry-Department of Public Works and Highways (DTI-DPWH) Convergence Program, otherwise known as Road Leveraging Linkages of Industry and Trade (ROLL IT) Program.

The program envisioned to further reinforce inclusive growth and infrastructure development that will eradicate poverty and hunger and aims to create road connectivity, improved road access and networks.

“The newly constructed bridge became the catalysts of development in the municipality,” said Tuburan Mayor Danilo Diamante.

He added that this would increase economic activities and social growth that would enable boundless opportunities in the municipality’s progress.

Vice Mayor Democrito “Aljun” Diamante who started the coffee production during his term as mayor thanked for the realization of the project.

He also thanked Third District Representative, Deputy Speaker Pablo John Garcia, for helping the project.

Aljun said the bridge project is just part of the P587 million budget approved in 2018 aimed at connecting the road in Barangay Bangkito to Danao City.

Garcia, who attended the inauguration, assured to get funding from the national government for the concreting of not less than 10 kilometers road to Danao City.

He said he will also work with his sister, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, to materialize the project.

Officials and representatives of DTI, DPWH, Department of Agriculture and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources also attended the inauguration.   (FREEMAN)
