San Francisco VMs son attacked by armed men

CEBU, Philippines —  A group of armed men has attacked the son of San Fracisco Vice Mayor Aly Arquillano while driving his four-wheeled pick-up vehicle somewhere in the Municipality of Compostela, Cebu last Tuesday afternoon.

A certain Donald Suarez, 30, a resident of Barangay San Isidro, San Francisco, personally reported the incident yesterday at Compostela Police Station.

Suarez brought with him the affidavit executed by the victim, Aly Arquillano Jr., 27, a resident of Barangay Nangka, Consolacion, Cebu.

Arquillano Jr., said that while driving his motor vehicle heading towards Danao City, he noticed a black pick-up truck in front of him moving very slow.

He also noticed another vehicle behind him attempting to overtake him but the truck suddenly stopped and blocked his way.

Arquillano Jr. alleged that five unidentified men all wearing black bonnets alighted from the two vehicles with long firearms and all pointed their firearms and shouted, “baba, baba.”

“I was so scared that without hesitation, I suddenly got out of the vehicle and they held me immediately and pushed me towards the back of the vehicle I was driving while they were still pointing their guns on me. They searched my person and they got my cellphone. They never returned it back,” said Arquillano Jr. in his affidavit.

Arquillano said that after the armed men found out he was alone, they immediately left him by the road side and swiftly sped away.

“Thus, the incident causes damaged and prejudiced on the part of the victim,” read the police report dated December 17, 2020 certified by Police Captain Vincent Zozobrado, acting chief of Compostela Police Station. — GMR (FREEMAN)
