Badian cops nab 9 persons drinking ‘tuba’ in public
CEBU, Philippines — The police have arrested nine individuals who were caught drinking coconut wine in a public place in Badian town in southern Cebu last Saturday afternoon.
The police identified the individuals as certain Alejandro Mabuting, Juan Buenaflor Jorolan, Mario Otoc Rodemio, Marly Cataytay Tobio, Joey Hipolito Requina Geoman, Vicente Rofina Magallano, Amado Mabuting Sagayno and Marilyn Belandres Villancio.
A certain Victor Getio Paracueles will be charged with disobedience to authority for resisting arrest during the operation.
"The group was caught drinking coconut wine in public clearly defying quarantine protocols despite repeated reminders from authorities," said the Badian Police in a written statement.
Authorities have conducted regular patrolling in Barangay Basak and spotted the group violating the health protocols over a drinking session.
Appropriate charges are set to be filed today.
Meanwhile, a man was arrested after hacking another person using a bolo right after their drinking session in Sitio Kalubiran, Barangay Siotes, Tuburan on Saturday midnight.
It was around 12:30 a.m. when the police responded to an alarm in the area and arrested the suspect identified as Allan Comahig, 47, for hacking a certain Pantaleon Gutual Jr., 30, after a heated argument ensued.
According to authorities, it was Comahig who grabbed a bolo and hacked Gutual several times.
Gutual sustained injuries in different parts of his body and was then rushed to the nearby hospital but was later transferred to another hospital.
Confiscated from the suspect was a 24-inch bolo. — GMR (FREEMAN)
