CEBU, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office in a joint operation with the Highway Patrol Group in Central Visayas has apprehended 158 vehicles including motorcycles for violation of some traffic rules and regulations over the weekend.

This was the result of the two-day joint operations at Transcentral Highway in Cebu City and in Manipis Road in traversing Talisay City and Toledo City.

LTO-7 regional director Victor Emmanuel Caindec said that 92 vehicles were apprehended on Sunday while the 66 apprehensions were done on Saturday.

Caindec said that a Temporary Operator's Permit (TOP) was issued against the apprehended vehicles wherein drivers have committed various violations such as reckless driving, not wearing seatbelt, overloading, no plates attached, among others.

Caindec has reminded the public especially the motorcycle riders to keep in mind that even though the whole island of Cebu is under the modified general community quarantine, the COVID-19 virus remains which means the threat stays.

The LTO-7 head issued the reminder as hundreds of motorcycles were lining-up for the checkpoint along the Transcentral Highway two weeks ago of which photos went viral.
