CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office 7 has dedicated the P50 million financial aid for the structural development of Cebu City Police Office.

The amount was pledge by Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella.

“Maybe it will be a big building to extend the current building to three to four-storey building kay vertical man gud ang development because of the size of the space, the vertical is the best way to increase the capacity,” said PRO-7 director, Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro.

He said the wider space police office with open ventilation will enable all the police personnel to work in an environment without the risks of Covid-19 infections.

According to Ferro, the gesture of the Mayor is a “welcome development” for local police adding that Labella has been supportive to them since the beginning of his service as regional director.

“From the very start, Mayor Labella has continuously sustained the support to our police force, so undoubtedly he is really a father to us,” he said.

Ferro further said that not only the local government unit of Cebu City has supported them all throughout but all the remaining LGUs in the Central Visayas.

Meanwhile, Ferro directed the station commander of the Guadalupe Police Station to impose a community-friendly service in their newly inaugurated station yesterday.

Just besides the old one, the new CCPO Station 9 is a three-storey building built in a 400-square meter lot.

Ferro, who attended the ceremony, said that the new office is in line with the project plan of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in relation to building conducive working environment of the organization.

In his speech, Ferro has directed station chief, Police Captain Janelito Marquez, to take good care of the station as part of their duties to serve the community.

“Your new home and new building is a fulfillment towards the roadmap of the PNP Patrol Plan 2030,” said Ferro.

Ferro also directed Marquez to keep the station COVID-free in the same way they have been curbing the spread of the virus in their area of responsibility.

The new police station was fully funded by the PNP but the lot was donated by Barangay Guadalupe. — GMR (FREEMAN)
