CPPO cops told: Go back to basics

Iris Hazel M. Mascardo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Newly Installed Cebu Provincial Police Director Aladdin Collado has laid down his “marching orders” to his men all throughout the province - putting an emphasis of going back to their "basics" to be able to become better public servants.

Collado told reporters in an interview yesterday during the unveiling of mural paintings in Talisay City Police Station that he will also be focusing on enhancing and enriching the capabilities of the police officer of CPPO.

Collado said that to be able to deliver well the strategies and plans of the police organizations and provide the public the best services, the policemen on duty must first understand what the authority given to them means and the responsibility that comes along with it.

"Sa mga nakikita ko naman, maganda naman ang itinakbo ng PPO (Police Provincial Office) sa mga nakaraang panahon sa pamamagitan ng pagpapatupad ng batas at maganda naman ang ibinilin ng pinalitan ko na Provincial Director. I'm looking forward also na, at least, I will contribute more dito sa peace and order,” he said.

Among the 'going back to the basics' that he will be focusing on were the enforcement of law and prevention of crime as it  carries out the whole mandate of the PNP for the public safety.

Collado, however, added that even amidst going back to the basics of these mandates, they will be enforcing it 'aggressively' not just with the CPPO headquarters but up to the smallest station of the province.

He said his program called ABCDE (Adherence to Police and Procedures, Back to Basics, Commitment to Service, Discipline and Efficient and Effective Policing) is all about the basics of being a police officer which will be helpful in reminding the policemen the importance of their attitude towards their work.

"Hindi naman bago to eh. Kung titingnan nyo ABC, that's basic. Noong bata tayo that's the first lesson that we learn from our parents, teachers. So that's basic. Wala naman gaanong bago diyan, but yan ang personal advocacy ko na maka-align sa gusto mangyari sa organization natin," said Collado.

Collado added they will also continue to intensify their anti-criminality campaign, as it is still the directive of the PNP organization and the priority of their duties.

Under Collado's leadership, he added that an administrative movement will be done among the assignment of the officials since several of them are due for schooling. — GAN (FREEMAN)
