CEBU, Philippines — Several police service murals painted by arrested violators of the quarantine protocols in Talisay City which shows the station's principles and recent accomplishments were unveiled by Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas and top police officials yesterday.

Police Major Gerard Pelare said that when they found out that there were several talented artists among those that they have apprehended for violating the quarantine protocols, they have asked them to continue the painting of the murals that were started before the pandemic began.

"When they were arrested for the violation sa curfew and health protocols, we found that that they are talented so we asked for their help, and gladly they help us, actually tung among mga paintings, those are our best practices in Talisay,” said Pelare.

He added that the idea was created when they decided to personify some of the station's best practices to also remind his personnel every now and then to embody the message behind the murals.

Among the messages painted in these murals was dubbed as 'Pulis Palengkero' wherein the police personnel were painted to have gone to the market in behalf of the residents to reduce the marketgoers in times of the pandemic.

This is also in line with the police enforcement to lessen the influx of people plying in the streets as the city goes into quarantine.

Aside from this, the massive illegal drug campaign of the station dubbed as Oplan Limpyo Talisay was painted in the walls as they continue their relentless operations through the weekly barangay visitations, drug rehabilitation and Barangay Drug Clearing Program.

"Our aspirations also like our core values as a police unit (were also painted) kay it's very important man gud that the police officers know the strategy of the police station (so that) they will be able to contribute towards the attainment of the objectives," said Pelare.

"As you can see in one of the paintings also is his (CPPO Director, Colonel Collado) main program the ABCDE or the alphabet. We included that as part of our commitment, we will really adhere to the provincial director's talk in implementing this which is really a very important policies in the PNP right now," he added.

The ABCDE policies of the CCPO Chief stands for Adherence to Policy Procedures, Back to Basic, Commitment to Police Service, Discipline and Efficient and Effective Policing.

This is also under their objectives to show that they are 'serious in providing police service'.

Pelare also emphasized that the painted murals indicate that every police personnel under the Talisay City Police Station is part of their success and their failures.

"In that way, we will be able to summon cooperation and contribution from each of the member," he added.  — GAN (FREEMAN)
