CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government is set to distribute the financial assistance for the senior citizens who failed to claim the aid during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period.

City Legal Officer Rey Gealon said the financial assistance worth P3,000 covers the aid for the months of March, April, and May.

The venue of the distribution will be in Cebu Coliseum.

Gealon said August 29 to 31, 2020 is the schedule for seniors living in the south district, while seniors in the north district can claim the aid from September 1 to 2.

Since the mandatory stay at home order for seniors is still effective, they can authorize a family member to claim the assistance.

The requirements include the senior’s identification card, authorized person's ID, and authorization letter from the senior.

To recall, the distribution for such assistance started on May 16 while the city was under a stricter quarantine status.

Gealon said the financial assistance for the months of June, July, and August will be distributed starting September 5 wherein another P3,000 will be enjoyed by the seniors.

Gealon said it will be done in a house-to-house and non-contact manner.

To avoid coronavirus disease, disbursing officers were tested first and only those found negative will be allowed to participate in the distribution.

Seniors are also required to wear masks during the distribution.

Each senior gets P1,000 per month or P12,000 annually from the city government. — KQD (FREEMAN)
