LTO set to automate license exam system

CEBU, Philippines —  The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is set to activate an Automated Driver’s License Examination System (ADELES) at its regional, Jagna District and Toledo District offices.

LTO Chief Edgar Galvante has directed Regional Director Victor Caindec to ensure that there are competent and adequate personnel to handle the volume of driver license applicants.

Caindec, in a statement, said that Bohol now has four LTO-7 offices that include its Tagbilaran District Office, Alturas Mall Licensing Center, Talibon Extension Office and now Jagna-Garcia Hernandez.

Caindec, who assumed office in January of 2018, started with just 12 offices in the region.

During his stint, he has established an additional 11 offices in Central Visayas which includes district and extension offices; licensing centers; and offsite printing offices.

These include the Temporary Offsite Printing Office (TOPO) at SM Seaside; TOPO in ICM, Lapu-Lapu City; TOPO at Robinson’s Galleria; Talisay City Extension Office; Mega Licensing Center at SM Seaside; Bantayan Licensing Extension Office in Bantayan Island; Balamban Licensing Extension Office and Camotes Island Extension Office.

Meanwhile, Galvante has recently approved the LTO’s Malasakit Lounge.

“Malasakit Lounge will turn one year this coming October and we are glad that Asec. Galvante approved this initiative as our way of giving back to the public for the convenience of everybody,” said Caindec.

He added that the lounge aims to provide convenience to all senior citizens, persons with disabilities, pregnant, lactating women, and diplomatic officials in getting a new driver’s license.

Caindec added that this is the only Malasakit Lounge in the whole of LTO offices in the country and the agency hopes to establish more in the region.

“The Malasakit Lounge served a total of 80 healthcare workers from CCMC, April and May. Now, since we are already under General Community Quarantine where public transport is no longer a challenge, CCMC already turned over the Malasakit Lounge to us,” Caindec said. — GAN (FREEMAN)
