No Cebu City sitio is under lockdown

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The granular lockdowns imposed in five areas in Cebu City have already been lifted, which means that no area in the city is currently under lockdown for the first time since the pandemic hit the city in March.

The localized or granular lockdowns were earlier raised in six specific areas in five barangays, namely Sitio Eyha in Guadalupe; Balaga drive to sitio Cekalco in Labangon; Tuada compound in Tisa; Sitio San Isidro and the Abellana compound also in Quiot; and C. Mina extension in Mabolo.

So far, there are no reports yet from the City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on additional granular lockdown.

However, there were about 200 households that were placed on a house lockdown coming from different areas.

In the last update made by Councilor Joel Garganera, there were only 56 barangays left with some active cases.

Aside from that, there were two business establishments – a hotel and a contact center -- that have been “warned” by the EOC for supposedly violating protocols.

Under the latest National Action Plan (NAP)-II against COVID-19, a zoning containment strategy is being implemented to fight the spread of the virus. Here, massive contact tracing, testing, isolation and treatment of suspect, probable and confirmed cases are set.

Zoning containment can be a barangay-wide lockdown, block, street, house, and building lockdown.

In DOH’s August 13 data, Cebu City had 1,701 active cases, 22 of which were new.

Aside from the new cases, there were two additional deaths, putting the total to 607.

Total recoveries, meanwhile, have already breached reached 7, 006, including the 10 additional recovered patients on August 13. /KQD (FREEMAN)
