CEBU, Philippines — A Danish and his cohort were arrested in a buy-bust operation the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-7 had conducted in Barangay Taloto, Tagbilaran City, Bohol last Thursday night.

In coordination with the Tagbilaran Police Station, PDEA-7 personnel conducted the operation that resulted in the arrest of Kim Rasmussen, 55, a Danish, and his alleged cohort, Vinz Excel Sumatra, 23, Filipino, a resident of Booy District, Tagbilaran City.

Confiscated from the suspects were 12 sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 2.5 grams with estimated value of around P17,000.

PDEA-7 Spokesperson Leia Albiar, quoting the result of their initial investigation, said Rasmussen was the owner of the illegal drugs and that Sumatra was tasked to distribute. The two reportedly also use illegal drugs.

Albiar added the suspects were under surveillance for five days for the case buildup following a report from a confidential informant. The authorities found out that the suspects could dispose of up to five grams in a week.

“The Danish national is allegedly enticing female locals to join in his pot sessions at his residence and take advantage of the women once they are high on drugs,” Albiar told reporters.

The suspects are now detained at the Panglao Police Station.

Meanwhile,in another buy-bust operation, an ex-convict was arrested by the authorities along N. Bacalso Avenue, Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

The operation was conducted on the same day at around 11:45 a.m. that resulted in the arrest of Rolando Abanes Bautista, 47. In their investigation, the authorities found out that Bautista has been previously convicted for robbery charges and has already served his sentence last 2004.

Confiscated during the operation were two packs of suspected shabu weighing more or less 50 grams with an estimated market value of P340,000.

Albiar said the suspects were monitored for case buildup for a week following a report of a confidential informant. She added, the suspects could dispose of up to 300 to 500 grams per week.

A case for violation of Section 5, Article II of RA 9165 will be filed against the suspect. — GAN (FREEMAN)
