Consolacion public college pushed to be part of CTU

Gregg M. Rubio - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu Sixth District Rep. Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon has proposed to convert Consolacion Community College into a satellite campus of Cebu Technological University upon the request of the local government unit.

The CCC was established in 2008 primarily providing advanced education, technological, professional and vocation instructions and further training in the field of science, arts, information technology, commerce, engineering and other related courses.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Consolacion believes that incorporating CCC as one of the campuses of CTU will surely provide a positive socio-economic impact and benefit the less fortunate students to attain college education at a lesser cost.

The municipal council, led by Vice Mayor Teresa Alegado, passed a resolution on December 20, 2019 requesting Dizon to sponsor a bill for the said purpose.

Dizon consulted the CTU administration which readily agreed to the proposal.

CTU Main Campus Director, Dr. Joseph Pepito, told Dizon in a letter dated February 26, 2020 that the CTU is committed to provide free quality tertiary education to the community as manifested by their several satellite campuses spread all over Cebu Province.

“Thus, CTU welcomes CCC of Consolacion to affiliate and very much willing to support the realization of this endeavor,” Pepito said.

Dizon filed the House Bill No. 7194 integrating the CCC as one of the satellite campuses of CTU. Dizon said with this new set up of the said higher learning institution, its capability of training students in the municipality and neighboring cities and municipalities will be greatly enhanced. — FPL (FREEMAN)
