4 persons nabbed in Negros drug ops
CEBU, Philippines — Four were nabbed in three separate buy-bust operations conducted in Dumaguete City by the joint forces of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-7 and the PNP last Thursday.
The first operation which was conducted along Meciano Road, Barangay Taclobo, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental at around 12:50 p.m. resulted in the arrest of Charlene E. Lañas, alias Ging-Ging, 41, a resident of Barangay Cadawinonan, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
Confiscated from the suspect were three sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less two grams valued at 13,600.
PDEA-7 Information Officer Leia Albiar said the suspect's modus includes booking in rooms and pension houses to do her transactions.
Albiar added the suspect was placed under surveillance for four weeks for case buildup after an information came from a 'confidential informant.' Initial investigation results showed that Lañas can dispose about five to 10 grams of illegal drugs per week.
On the same day at around 5:50 p.m., another buy-bust operation in the same barangay led to the arrest of Carl A. Teves, 28.
Seized from him were 11 sachets of suspected shabu, weighing more or less five grams valued at P34,000.
At 6:11 p.m., still in the same barangay, a separate team from the Dumaguete PNP and the PDEA-Negros Oriental Provincial Office conducted a second buy-bust leading to the arrest of Alvin P. Balbon, 38, a resident of Barangay Daro, Dumaguete City, and Maria Riza E. Umbac, 30, a resident of Barangay Camanjac, Dumaguete City.
Recovered from them were three sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 1.3 grams worth P8,840.
Cases for violation of Article II of RA 9165 will be filed against the suspects. GAN (FREEMAN)
