Iris Hazel Mascardo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The Carmen, Bohol Police Station was placed under lockdown after its chief had died from suspected COVID-19, said Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 Director Albert Ignatius Ferro.

In a press briefing with the reporters yesterday, Ferro said that they are just now waiting for the swab test result of the Carmen Police Station chief along with the more than 20 personnel who were now isolated inside.

“We are in lockdown sa tibuok na police station sa Carmen because of a suspected COVID individual in the person of the chief of police.  But we have no confirmatory yet of the result of the swab, just a precaution, among gi-lockdown, tapos gipa-swab tanan including the family of the late officer,” said Ferro.

Should the police chief’s test turn out positive for the virus, this would be the first case among the cops of the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) and would be the fifth mortality among the cops of PRO-7.

The contact tracing has now been conducted, while the specimens for their swab testing will be brought here in Cebu City.

18 Cops recovered

Meanwhile, 18 police personnel have recovered from the virus and were released from the PRO-7 Malasakit Recovery Center yesterday morning.

“And we are expecting more, because kanang atong mga police man gud na natakdan, asymptomatic and most of them are really doing good,” said Ferro.

He added that, at present, they are now waiting for the swab results of about 26 cops, while they would also be doing reswabbing of around 20 COVID positive cops.

Ferro added that when a COVID positive cop will test negative in the following testing, they will be placed for counseling and psychological tests prior to their release.  GAN (FREEMAN)
