Gas station loses P8,000 to burglars
CEBU, Philippines — A gasoline station along V. Rama Avenue in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City lost at least P8,000 in cash to two unidentified burglars Tuesday dawn.
Police Captain Janelito Marquez, Guadalupe Police Station chief, said the burglars allegedly broke into the office of the gas station around 3:40 a.m. The security guard claimed he saw two unarmed persons broke into the office prompting him to run to the police station to seek assistance.
Marquez, however, finds the testimony contrary to human behavior because the culprits were unarmed. Police investigators are not discounting the possibility of an inside job.
Marquez said they are now gathering video footages from the security camera of the gas station to help them identify the culprits and to verify the testimony of the guard.
Meanwhile, a policeman died from motorcycle crash Monday evening on Gov. Cuenco Avenue in Barangay Luz, Cebu City.
Patrolman Mark Ian Labrador Recla was driving his motorcycle on his way home when he lost his balance and rammed into a lamp post at the TESDA flyover. Recla was rushed to the hospital but he did not make it alive.
Police Senior Staff Sergeant Gerby Maloloy-on said Recla was running at high speed when the accident happened.
Maloloy-on said they are checking reports that Recla may have been driving under the influence of liquor because he reportedly came from a celebration of his batch anniversary.
"Allegedly he was having a drinking session with his batchmates kay actually batch anniversary sad gahapon," Maloloy-on said. FPL (FREEMAN)
