City logs 42 new cases, 13 in Cebu Province

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu province logged 21 positive results of coronavirus tests yesterday, with 13 being new cases.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia announced that Minglanilla recorded six new cases (all asymptomatic), Talisay five new cases (three asymptomatic), Consolacion one new case and Barili with one new case who is a health worker.

The recoveries have also reached 48.

In Cebu City, at least 42 more residents tested positive for the coronavirus disease yesterday, according to the announcement made by the City Health Department.

Of this number, six are from Barangay Duljo; four from Barangay Labangon; four from Barangay Tejero; and three from Barangay Sambag 1.

Two cases each were recorded in Barangays Basak San Nicolas, Ermita, Inayawan, Quiot, Sawang Calero, and Tinago.

Also, Barangays Banawa, Bo. Luz, Bulacao, Calamba, Camputhaw, Carreta, Guadalupe, Lahug, Lorega, Pardo, San Nicolas Proper, Suba and Tisa have one case each.

As of Wednesday, the total number of positive cases in Cebu City has already reached 2,450. Of that number, 1,246 are active cases.

CHD also announced 16 new recoveries yesterday. These bring to 1,176 the total number of recovered patients in the city.

The recoveries recorded were from Barangay Lahug with four; Barangay Labangon with three; Barangay Camputhaw with three; Barangay Carreta with two; Barangay Mambaling with two; and one each in Barangays Ermita and Pasil.

Mayor Edgardo Labella expressed his gratitude to the patients for cooperating and for the frontliners who took care of the patients in the different barangay isolation centers (BICs).  JMD (FREEMAN)
