CEBU, Philippines — The personnel of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) have distributed relief goods to the families in the mountainous areas of Santander, Cebu last Saturday.

This is in line with the PNP's program of relief distribution dubbed as “Kapwa ko, Sagot ko” that Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 Director Albert Ignatius Ferro is spearheading.

CPPO Director Roderick Mariano said about 40 of his men who joined the activity were able to distribute these relief packs in two barangays of Santander, Cebu.

Each relief pack contained three kilos of rice, canned goods and instant noodles.

"At nagbigay rin tayo sa mga bata ng mga gatas na powdered milk, at also dahil din mataas din doon, mainit, we distributed avocado ice candy," Mariano said.

Santander municipal mayor and local officials were with the cops during the distribution, according to Mariano.

This was the second wave of the CPPO's relief distribution.

During the first wave, the CPPO personnel distributed around 900 food packs in the mountainous area of Balamban and Tuburan town last week.

"At least napawi yung ating pagod kasi nakita natin kung gaano kasaya ang ating mga kababayan na naninirahan doon na maparating natin sa kanila ang ating munting tulong," Mariano said.

He added that the people who received the said packs were thankful, especially the children whom Mariano initially assessed, appeared terrified upon seeing the police officers due to the implementation of ECQ.

However, when they started giving the food packs, the children loosened up and got comfortable with their presence.

The funds of the relief packs were from the Bayanihan of the CPPO cops and some of the advisory council.  GAN (FREEMAN)
