Palma offers 2 centers for COVID-19 response

CEBU, Philippines — The Archdiocese of Cebu has offered to open its two facilities in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City for purposes related to the combat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

These are the International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) Convention Center of Cebu (IC3) and the Abtanan sa Kalooy, a center built for street children.

Archbishop Jose Palma said the government could use the facilities as a mini clinic or a temporary hospital.

“The government can utilize the facilities for whatever purpose that will help address the needs for COVID-19 response,” he said.

The prelate said the archdiocese has already coordinated with the government for this initiative.

Palma said the facilities have been identified as alternative facilities for COVID-19 centers.

The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu’s satellite school on General Maxilom Avenue in Cebu City was first to open its doors for the establishment of the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development COVID-19 Center .

The center has a quarantine area, a triage area for patients, and a laboratory facility for testing of COVID-19, among others.  KQD (FREEMAN)
