More buses deployed for healthcare workers

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) has added routes for the “Malasakit Buses” that are dedicated for the healthcare workers in Cebu.

OPAV, in partnership with Vallacar Transit Inc., launched the Malasakit Bus for medical health workers last March 19, in order to provide transportation for our medical professional front liners in their fight against the threat of Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Due to the high volume of medical health workers at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC), the OPAV said it has dedicated two buses to ply the Southern Route of Cebu to VSMMC and another bus to ply the Northern Route to VSMMC, and vice versa.

Now, in addition to the previous two buses, another three buses will be activated to cater to other medical workers assigned to other public and private hospitals.

These three buses will ply Northern and Southern routes for the other medical workers.

Here are the bus schedules for the 3 additional buses:

As of March 22, a total of 738 health workers have availed of the free bus rides.

As an added convenience for the medical workers, OPAV has partnered with an App called RideHero, so that passengers can easily track bus locations.

With the use of the App, passenger may be able to track the buses in real time.

The RideHero App is available both on Play Store and App Store, and can be downloaded for free.  GAN (FREEMAN)
