Consolacion inks aid pact with anti-poverty group
CEBU, Philippines — The Municipality of Consolacion has partnered with the National Anti-poverty Commission (NAPC) for the NAPC-LGU Sambayanihan Serbisyong Sambayanan.
The Sambayanihan Serbisyong Sambayanan is a program initiated by the NAPC to provide basic social services to indigent residents of partnered local government units (LGUs). It is a five-year development framework which is supposed to span from 2019-2023.
“The framework aims to provide guidance for the NAPC’s efforts, including the convergence of the government’s anti-poverty programs, projects, and services, in carrying out a climate-responsive, culture-and-gender-sensitive and convergent and participatory anti-poverty strategy,” the MOA read.
For its part, the NAPC will provide the necessary services to the urban poor or informal settlers.
The services include housing, infrastructure, the strengthening of rural-urban agro-economic value chains, healthcare and food security.
On the other hand, Consolacion and other partnered LGUs shall provide logistical and administrative assistance to NAPC.
The MOA was signed by Consolacion Mayor Joannes Alegado and NAPC lead convenor Atty. Noel Felongco. KQD (FREEMAN)
