4 Central Visayas cops sacked over ‘drug links’
CEBU, Philippines — Four policemen in Central Visayas were relieved by the Chief PNP due to their alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
The four are part of the 357 cops who were recalled by the Chief PNP last Friday due to their alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
“Actually five yun, but one was reassigned to PRO-13 and was eventually dismissed kasi nag-AWOL (absence without official leave),” Ferro said.
The four policemen, according to Ferro, were already sent to the national headquarters last Thursday where they had a dialogue with the Chief PNP Gamboa.
“They will be accorded due process and if proven guilty on their involvement with illegal drugs, they will be dismissed from the service,” Ferro said.
Aside from this, Ferro said the four policemen may possibly face criminal cases depending on the results of appropriate administrative investigation.
Ferro said that what happened to the policemen will stand as stern warning to the members of the PRO-7.
“Alan namin na noong ako’y director ng drug enforcement group,
marami kaming namo-monitor na nga police dito kasi ganitong nangyari noong mga unang time,” Ferro said.
He further said that it is timely that he and the full command force of the PNP have a common understanding as he emphasized that he didn’t lack in reminding his men.
“Kami po ay patuloy na nagpupursigi sa internal cleansing ng ating Chief PNP at yan ay hindi lang ningas-kugon,” he said.
Meanwhile, as he takes his new post as director, Ferro said that he is planning a revamp to give a chance for the cops in the lower ranks to prove their worth.
“The command group will review each performance so we will try to know kung sino yung nasa baba and we’ll try to give them chance to prove their worth,” he said.
However, if police personnel are found to have not performed well, Ferro said that they will possibly face reassignment. (FREEMAN)
