Nalzaro seeks lifestyle check on Caindec

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu tri-media personality Pablito “Bobby” Nalzaro has requested the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas to conduct a lifestyle check on Land Transportation Office-7 Director Victor Emmanuel Caindec.

Nalzaro and Caindec traded accusations after the latter’s father came for an interview with the veteran broadcaster in his radio program over DySS.

Victorio “Sonny” Caindec alleged that his son has amassed unexplained wealth, including several new sports utility vehicles in his two years as LTO-7 regional director.

Nalzaro challenged Caindec to come clean and show his Statement of Assets and Liabilities and Net Worth from the time he assumed office to date if he has nothing to hide but the latter reportedly refused.

“Instead he threatened to sue me for libel and made allegations that he gave me envelope, an insinuation of bribery, when he was still not in government. But he is just inventing story to get back at me. I never met him personally,” Nalzaro said.

Caindec cannot be reached for comment but he posted some reactions on his Facebook on Nalzaro’s filing a request at the anti-graft office.

“Panic na ka Bob?  How thorough. Publicity stint sa tao nga wala nay credibility,” read Caindec’s post.

Caindec also posted on social media that he is planning to run for congressman because of Nalzaro’s commentaries that have made him popular.

Nalzaro, also a newspaper columnist, has been exposing the shenanigans and allegations of corruption against some government officials reported to him by some citizens who are afraid to come out in the open and file formal complaints for fear of reprisals from these officials.

“It is my belief that it is to the best interest of all taxpayers and the public in general and also to Mr. Caindec himself that the Honorable Office of the Deputy Ombudsman-Visayas will conduct a lifestyle check on him. If he has no unexplained wealth, Mr. Caindec will be cleared. But if he does, he must face the music and be prosecuted with the full force of the law,” added Nalzaro.  FPL (FREEMAN)
