Habalhabal driver found dead
CEBU, Philippines — The members of the Danao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) had recovered a dead body of a habalhabal driver, who went missing before Christmas.
Victim Jonathan Canggas, 31, a resident of Barangay Togonon, Danao City, was reported missing last December 24, while his dead body was found at Guinakot Dam around 11 a.m. yesterday.
Police Staff Sergeant Arnold Labine of the Danao Police Station said that the victim was having a drinking session with his friends at around 4 p.m. last Dec. 24.
At around 6 p.m., the victim reportedly left the group to go home.
However, his family members had reported to the CDRRMO that Canggas has not gone home to celebrate Christmas.
Labine added that it was the personnel of the CDRRMO who recovered Canggas’ corpse at Guinakot Dam at Sitio Awihao, Barangay Guinakot, Danao City.
The authorities believed that the victim may have been swept by the strong current of the river in Barangay Togonon during the onslaught of Typhoon Ursula. GAN (FREEMAN)
