Woman who‘hit’ mall worker posts bail
CEBU, Philippines – Medina Berja Yamazaki, the woman charged for physical injuries after throwing a humidifier at a promodiser inside a mall in Cebu City, has bailed out, Mabolo Police Station chief Dindo Juanito Alaras said yesterday.
A video supposedly showing Yamazaki shouting at promodiser Jennifer Fabillar, 33, a promodiser at a mall, made rounds online a few days ago. The video, which lasted three minutes, also showed her seemingly throwing something at the face of Fabillar.
In the video, the woman, believed to be Yamazaki, was engaged in a heated argument with the promodiser while carrying her months-old child in her right arm.
The woman could be heard raising her voice at Fabillar. The video further showed that the woman picked up a humidifier and threw it in Fabillar’s face hitting her in her right eye.
Fabillar then filed her complaint at the Mabolo Police Station the following day.
As to the speculations that the suspect has mental illness, Alaras said they have yet to validate the information since only an expert can declare such.
Alaras added that the police are willing to assist in initiating a psychiatric one if the complainant or the suspect’s camp would request one.
In fact, Alaras revealed that when they tried to offer a medical examination to the suspect as part of the process when she was arrested, Yamasaki allegedly refused to undergo one and even signed a waiver. /JMD (FREEMAN)
