CEBU, Philippines — A construction establishment was robbed by four unidentified armed men in Carcar City, Cebu last Saturday, while a farmer was shot dead by another farmer in Asturias, Cebu due to a personal feud.

At around 1:50 a.m. last Saturday, the Worldwide Depot in Carcar City was robbed by four unidentified men at P. Nellas Street, Barangay Poblacion, however the incident was reported to the police station at around 5 a.m. already by one of its employees.

Police Corporal Argie Noel Espinosa, Carcar Police Station desk officer, said the robbers were able to get two pieces of grinder, one circular saw, the .38 revolver firearm of the establishment’s guard and at least P60,000 believed to be the establishment’s proceeds.

In its initial investigation, Espinosa said the robbers arrived at the establishment boarding a motorcycle. When the four armed men disembarked from the motorcycle, they immediately pointed their firearm at the guard and tied him with a rope.

Espinosa said the suspects were wearing masks, based on the account of the security guard.

Carcar Police Station Chief Clarisse Gabutan told The FREEMAN that they will be checking the CCTV footages, as they are not discounting the idea that the incident could be an inside job.

At present, the authorities are still continuing its investigation to identify the robbers.

Meanwhile, a farmer was shot dead by another farmer at Purok 4, Barangay Langub, Asturias, Cebu at around 8 a.m. last Saturday.

The victim was identified as Antonio Claro, 40, married, while the suspect was identified as Rolando Patigaton, 39.  Both farmers are neighbors.

After the incident, the suspect voluntarily submitted himself to the authorities at the Asturias Police Station. (FREEMAN)
