CCMC students to benefit from new partnership

Alicia Ivy L. Chua - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — A clinical program will soon be made available at the government-run Cebu City Medical Center College of Nursing following its partnership with Saint Anthony Mother and Child Hospital (SAMCH).

The two signed a memorandum of agreement recently in which SAMCH will provide a clinical program for CCMC’s nursing students. CCMC was represented by Mayor Edgardo Labella.

A clinical education in nursing care is seen as a required and integral aspect of the degree program.

The partnership is seen to benefit CCMC students because SAMCH is equipped with facilities and professional expertise which can help provide a clinical education to the students enrolled in the program.

Under the MOA, SAMCH shall provide facilities and nursing practice appropriate for a successful completion of the clinical program.

The CCMC, on the other hand, shall be responsible for the administration of the program and designate its own faculty qualified by training and experience to facilitate the whole clinical experience of the students.

With the agreement, both parties aim to provide a conducive learning environment to the aspiring nurses of the city.

Attorney Rey Gealon, city legal officer, said that this agreement for clinical program will be for the best interest of the studentry of CCMC College of Nursing.

“It is the vision of the Mayor to provide top-notch nursing education and training, so Cebuanos can stand to benefit from it,” said Gealon.

The agreement will take effect January 2020 until January 2022. (FREEMAN)
