Chinese university looking for scholars

Lorraine L. Ecarma - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  A Chinese university is looking for applicants in the Province of Cebu for scholarships for Masters in Business Administration, Masters in International Business, Masters in Tourism Management and Masters in Physical Education.

Yesterday, Fujian Normal University (FNU) Liaison Huang Dai visited the Cebu Provincial Capitol to deliver the letter informing Governor Gwendolyn Garcia of the scholarship program.

”We hope to get scholars from your province and craft a lifelong plan to make this your legacy in postgraduate education in your outstanding leadership and governance,” read the letter.

FNU is looking for at least 10 scholars in the province and at least 40 in the entire nation. The only requirements to be able to apply to the program include that one must be under 35 years old and a Filipino citizen. Application will come in a first come, first serve basis.

About 500 aspirants have already been met in the provinces of Davao and Cagayan de Oro. This will serve as the fourth wave of scholarship grants for the Philippines.

“It’s really purely a scholarship program,” Huang Dai said.

He clarified that the university does not expect any return of service from the scholars and that the program is a means of strengthening the bond between the Philippines and the People’s Republic of China.

FNU is located in Fujian Province, a sister province of Cebu.  GAN (FREEMAN)
