Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Mandaue City government has entered into “Proof of Concept" agreement with Dyna-Tech and HUALU e-cloud for a 60-day evaluation of intelligent transportation system or Smart City Solutions.

Among the features of such system is to apprehend traffic violators without contact with traffic enforcers.

Yuri "Yummy" Mangondaya, vice president of Dyna Tech, said that the POC results will be forwarded to Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes before actual installation of posts and  CCTV cameras.

Mangondaya said that for the duration of the POC, some intersections in the city's busy streets will be installed with CCTVs to know the people's traffic behaviors, traffic violations, among others.

“Aside from traffic violations, these CCTV cameras are also intended for the safety and security of the public," Cortes said, adding the cost of the installation for all the CCTV cameras will not be borne by the city.

Dyna-Tech, the appointed exclusive partner/agent and authorized representative of HUALU e-cloud for the project, has submitted a proposal called “advanced integrated traffic monitoring system to the city.”

The project seeks to replace existing cameras throughout Mandaue City by “offering a total solution for replacing a traditional inefficient camera system with a smart camera system combined with AI technology that will address traffic problems and assist in traffic management in streets of the city.”

HUALA e-cloud specializes in intelligent transportation, intelligent drive, public safety, internet of things, involving existing works with industry leaders with state of the art technology to bring innovative solutions that benefit citizens and government entities.

Joseph Go, chairman of Dyna-Tech, said that Mandaue City is the pilot area for this project.

Go said that they got positive response from three other local government units, namely Cebu City, Talisay City and Lapulapu City, regarding the said project.

Cortes said that once this project be in placed, Mandaue City will have a no contact apprehension with the support of the Land Transportation Office.

Among the benefits of the project include are:

Reduction of human resources on monitoring the traditional camera system;

Traffic enforcers will focus on the actual traffic situation not on traffic violations;

Improve the accuracy in monitoring and analyzing traffic behavior;

Fast deployment, as only casings are replaced, not street light posts in entirety;

Increase collection of violation base on ordinance and decrease in traffic violations in the city. (FREEMAN)
