Dad questions carnival MOA

Alicia Chua - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —   City Councilor Eugenio Gabuya has questioned the decrease in the rental amount for the installation of the carnival in the annual Kasadya sa SRP.

“We bid twice already, we bid it out.  We got 2.5 million two years ago, and 3.6 million last year. So this is what we should inform the designated office na pwede ba ni na ni gamay, unya wa gi-bidding,” said Gabuya.

A draft of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Cebu City Government and John Mer Fun Rides for the annual Kasadya sa South Road Properties (SRP) Carnival has been discussed by the council.

The Kasadya sa SRP Carnival has been an annual carnival feast happening every December that features child-friendly adventure rides and amenities.

In the MOA, the property subjected of the lease is a portion of the SRP with an area of more or less one hectare, specifically a portion of Lot 7 and with lease period of three months, from December 1, 2019 until February 29, 2020.

In the last council session, the rent of P750,000 which would cover the entire three months was questioned by the council as to why did it decrease compared to the previous years.

The council has referred this to the City Legal Office with the bidding concerns and to have them consider it in drafting the agreement.

An executive session is set to happen on November 12, 2019 to discuss this further.  GAN (FREEMAN)
