5 more persons eyed in girl’s death in Pinamungajan
CEBU, Philippines — Five more persons of interest in the brutal killing of a 14-year-old girl in a mountainous village of Pinamungajan town last Monday have been invited by the police for questioning.
Pinamungajan Police Station chief Major Felicisimo Aranas said these people were considered in the investigation based on the information given by the family of the victim. According to Aranas, the additional persons of interest were allegedly near the area where the girl was found on the day the victim was killed.
The police first considered a 26-year-old neighbor of the victim as person of interest. He was invited for questioning but denied involvement in the girl’s brutal death.
Aranas said they have already collected DNA samples from them for testing to check if these match with the specimen found in the victim’s genital.
“Sa pagkakaron aduna natay lima ka person of interest nga nakuwaan na ug sample sa crime lab,” Aranas said.
The police described them as cooperative and even volunteered to submit their DNA samples.
The victim, who suffered several stab wounds and slit throat, was believed to have been raped before she was killed. FPL (FREEMAN)
