De Leon: Sinas left “big shoe to fill”

CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 has formally welcomed its new director Police Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon during yesterday’s turn-over of command.

Philippine National Police Officer-in-Charge Police Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa administered the change of command, as the outgoing PRO-7 Chief Debold Sinas was moved to the National Capital Region Police Office.

“You know what, General Sinas did is a very big shoes to fill in,” De Leon told reporters when the ceremony concluded.

He added that he would continue with the programs that Sinas had started, however, he would also be introducing some programs that will fit his ‘style of leadership.”

“Kasi nakita ko na there was a big achievement as far as PRO-7 is concerned,” De Leon, hinting that there would no “major change” in the PRO-7 leadership.

In terms of Sinas’ achievement on the war against illegal drugs, De Leon said that instead of matching Sinas’ achievement, he will instead cut the roots of the sources of these items to lessen the confiscated drugs.

De Leon put an emphasis with the internal cleansing, all-out war in criminality, anti-illegal drugs and corruption as his main focus to deal during his service in PRO-7.

De Leon also clarified that he will be filling up the vacancies left by the several personnel that Sinas brought along with him in his transfer to NCRPO.

“You can ask all my previous assignments. Bihira akong magalit kung tutuosin, pero yung action ko, mas masakit pa sa magalit,” De Leon said.

Meanwhile, General Sinas said that he is still willing to help PRO-7 in terms of the fight against illegal drugs and assured that he will be coordinating with De Leon anytime soon.  GAN (FREEMAN)
