P11.5 million drugs seized in sting operation
CEBU, Philippines — Illegal drugs worth P11.5 million were seized from two persons in the joint anti-illegal drug operation conducted by the operatives from the City Drug Enforcement Unit, City Intelligence Branch, PDEG SOU and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit Thursday dawn along V. Rama Avenue, Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.
The suspects were identified as Mark Jovan Rosales, 29, resident of A. Lopez, Barangay Labangon, and Malou Dela Peña, alias Michelle, 41, a native of Nabunturan, Davao Del Norte but temporarily staying at A. Lopez Street, in Barangay Calamba.
Rosales is reportedly a regional high value target, while Dela Peña is a street level target and is part of the station level’s watch list.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Frankie Jingle Vea Lugo, who headed the operation, and the other operatives were able to confiscate packs of suspected shabu weighing 1,073 grams and would cost P11,580,400, based on the Dangerous Drug Board Value.
Both the suspects are now detained at the lock-up jail at the Cebu City Police Office, as the authorities are preparing the filing of the case for violation of sections 5 and 11 of Article II of R.A 9165.
The suspects had admitted that they merely received the illegal drugs and would distribute them to their peers around the city. GAN
