Another PMAer to head PRO-7?

Fred P. Languido - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  A member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1988 has been floated as the next regional director of Police Regional Office-7.

Police Brigadier General Angelito Abellera Casimiro, Executive Officer of the Directorate for Logistics in Camp Crame, was reportedly endorsed by Brigadier General Debold Sinas as his replacement following his promotion as director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

Interviewed by reporters last week, Sinas was tight-lipped as to who would replace him. But an unimpeachable source at PRO-7 told The Freeman that Sinas recommended Casimiro to be his successor. Another source said there is no other contender except Casimiro.

Asked by the members of the Defense PNP Press Corps last Friday, Sinas neither confirmed nor denied the rumor. He only said, a “bisaya” will replace him.

A search for Casimiro’s name revealed that he was invited by Sinas in August 2018 as guest of honor and speaker during the traditional Monday flag raising ceremony at PRO-7. On the occasion Sinas gave him an image of the Santo Niño as present.

He was former Zamboanga City Police director for almost two years before he was transferred to Cordillera as deputy regional director for operations. He earned his star rank in on June 29, 2017.
