Labella dangles advisers, cars to councilors

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella vowed to provide vehicles and consultants to all city councilors.

Labella told reporters yesterday that under the 2020 annual budget, every councilor will be provided with a consultant.

Also, he said a city-issued service vehicle will be available if they will opt not to receive their P70,000 monthly allowance for transportation provided by the City Hall.

“I talked with the councilors that I will allow them to hire consultants. I will give them consultants — no discrimination — because I want them to work smoothly with their respective consultants, unlike the previous administration nga basta dili kauban sa politika wala’y consultant,” said Labella.

The city-issued vehicle will be provided and maintained by the government.

Labella even suggested that a four by four pick-up truck would be a good choice as it can be used to go to the mountains to serve their respective constituents.

He said he will allocate one consultant to each councilor and two or three for Vice Mayor Michael Rama.

It will be sourced from the P8 billion 2020 budget he will be asking. JMD (FREEMAN)
