CEBU, Philippines — About P10.3 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated in two separate buy-bust operations in Tagbilaran City, Bohol last Sunday afternoon.

On the same day in Barangay Zapatera, Cebu City, two street sweepers recovered a sling bag that contained P2.3 million worth of illegal drugs.

In Bohol, the Provincial Intelligence Branch, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PIB-PDEU) and Tagbilaran City Police Station, under the leadership of Police Colonel Jonathan Cabal, nabbed two persons in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tiptip, Tagbilaran City and a follow-up operation along Belderol Street in Barangay Cogon.

During the first operation at around 3 p.m., street level target watchlist Eva Marie Osiones, 44, was nabbed.

Seized from her were 15 grams of suspected shabu estimated to cost P100,000.

In a follow-up operation, Alan Ben Caberte, a high-value target, was arrested along Belderol Street, Barangay Cogon.

Confiscated from Caberte were 1.5 kilo of suspected illegal drugs with estimated value of P10.2 million.

In their initial investigation, the police found that the two arrested suspects were allegedly the suppliers of illegal drugs in the city.

Meanwhile, at least P2.8 million of suspected illegal drugs were discovered by the two street-sweepers in Barangay Zapatera, Cebu City last Sunday dawn.

According to Police Station 1 Chief, Police Captain Armando Labora, the suspected illegal drugs were placed inside a sling bag.

‘Nakakita silag bag during sa ilang pagpanilhig, so gatuo silag kwarta,” Labora said.

However, upon verifying the bag, the street-sweepers were shocked upon seeing the substance that, according to Labora, was foreign to them.

The street-sweepers then turned over the discovered drugs to the policemen who were roving the area.

Labora said they are concealing the sweeper’s names to protect their identities, as they are now conducting an investigation to determine the source of the illegal drugs discovered. (FREEMAN)
