CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 is opening its doors to at least 300 recruits that would join the organization, according to Director Debold Sinas in a press conference Monday morning.

“We have now another recruitment ng pulis, I think our quota again is 300.   The regional headquarters, tanang mga provincial headquarters, and city police office is now accepting applicants,” Sinas said.

He is hoping that they could process everything in two months and could schedule the oath taking before November ends.

In their last recruitment, they were able to meet the required number of recruits, while the excess applicants were assigned to other regions.

“Last recruitment is 100 percent mi.  Out of the 100 percent, naa pay 39 nga nasobra sa recruitment nga wala madawat nga gikuha karon sa Region 8 kasi nagkulang to ang ilang aplikante didto,” Sinas said.

“Buot ipasabot na daghan ug extra sa ato diri, pag naay extra among gipangitaan sa nearby regions na kung kulang sila, among gi-present tung atong mga excess applicants diri para makatabang pud ta,” he added.

Sinas said they will be adopting the same method that they used before. They will be increasing their number of recruits from the required number.

“So kung 300 ang quota, among gi double,” he said.

Sinas also clarified that among those applicants that will not be chosen, they will still be assigning them to the other regions just like before.

Meanwhile, on the issue of hazing, Sinas said that there were no reports of hazing from their past recruitments.

“Actually, ang hazing kasi is more on the academy aspect.  Ikaduha, sa atoa, for the past 3 to 4 recruitment, wala tay reported na hazing,” Sinas said.

“I always visited the training center to check also… para mahibaw-an nato ug naa bay nangabuso, naa bay problem, para malikayan nato,” he added.

Sinas as well emphasized that he created an agreement between the trainers to ban the drinking of the alcohol inside the center, which Sinas thinks as the reason that could possibly lead to abuse. (FREEMAN)
