Capitol has no plans of selling properties

CEBU, Philippines —  After the Capitol has repossessed five roads at the Cebu IT Park, Governor Gwen Garcia has reiterated that she has no plans on disposing of any other provincial property.

"As far as what is practicable, we are not selling, we are not donating, we are not disposing of any of our provincial properties," Garcia said.

Earlier in her administration, Garcia revealed that the Province of Cebu is conducting an ongoing inventory of all the property that have been sold, donated, and leased by the previous administration.

So far, they have discovered one illegally leased property in IT Park, and a disadvantageous transfer of authority to five roads surrounding IT Park.

Both have been successfully retrieved by the Province of Cebu. But Garcia made it clear that she is not done yet with taking back illegally distributed property.

"Those that have been given away, sold or disposed of in any other manner, I shall take steps to retrieve those properties," Garcia said.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has also taken strides in retrieving these properties by passing via unanimous motion a resolution urging Garcia to take the initial steps to recover illegally disposed of provincial property.

Copies of the resolution have already been forwarded to entities that bought or received provincial property.

"Mao nga gipadad-an na gani ang kadaghanan. Padad-an nato ang tanan nga mga entities nga nakapalit or nakakuha, a copy of the board resolution informing them that we will be reviewing the manner by which these properties were disposed of," Garcia said.—  GAN (FREEMAN)
