Senior citizens to get P3 thousand aid today
CEBU, Philippines — Senior citizens in Cebu City will receive P3,000 cash assistance from the city government today provided that they have the requirements to claim it.
Domingo Chavez, head of the Office of the Senior Citizens Affair (OSCA), said that all beneficiaries are required to present their senior citizen’s identification card issued by the city. Chavez said the beneficiary should be physically present because no special power of attorney or authorization letter will be honored.
“The logic behind this is kung imo siyang allow-on, tanan na sila magbuhat og special power of attorney. It’s very impractical,” said Chavez.
Those who will fail to claim their cash assistance today in their respective barangay will have until October 4 to get it at the City Hall otherwise the money will be forfeited.
There are at least 75, 865 registered senior citizens in the city. The P3,000 aid they will receive today represent the cash assistance for the months of July to September at P1,000 per month.
The budget was part of the P2.5 billion supplemental budget recently approved by the Cebu City Council. — FPL (FREEMAN)
