Province backs DoT project for women and children
CEBU, Philippines — The Province of Cebu has expressed support for the project of the Department of Tourism (DoT) promoting the safety of women and children.
Through Resolution No. 1990, the Province of Cebu extended its support to the stride taken by DoT in safeguarding the safety of women and children in tourism.
"This August body strongly supports the TourISM WoRCS program of the Department of Tourism to assist existing agencies in reducing the number of human trafficking cases in Cebu," read the resolution filed by Provincial Board Member Jerome Christian Librando of Cebu’s 7th District.
DoT, through the TourISM WoRCS program, strives to promote tourism practices that ensure the protection and promotion of the rights of women and children.
This will be done through a series of seminars and trainings that are designed to educate participants on sustainable tourism practices in line with the project’s goals.
This is especially important in the Province of Cebu since Region 7 has ranked third in the country for the most number of reported human trafficking cases from 2003 to 2017. (FREEMAN)
